i truly find this album artful and thought out this album makes any other remix album look like a first cut. This album should be the definition of what a remix album. no im not one of these "trent reznor does no wrong" guys.
fixed won't let you down The original soundtrack broken was an incredible feat with a 6 great songs and an extensive amount of 1 second songs encouraging the title broken, Unfortunatly not as many people enjoyed the 99 tracks so if you want all the songs very well remixed, less soudless tracks, and remixed songs in some cases better then the original.
I cannot believe this.I will give credit for the "Gave Up" remix that opens the disc up, but other than that, just skip them.I love NIN, been a huge fan since Broken cam to me when I was 11 or so, and this is one of the worst releases Trent ever came out with. There are two remixes of "Wish" that just go on and on forever, long after they should have stopped, and one of them just continues this annoying drum beat and distortion for like 7 minutes. For a NIN collector, you have to have this release, but to a music fan, no. This "remix" album, with the exception of the first track, is flippin weak.
It is one of NIN's best songs. The 2 remixes of Wish are cool, but get a bit repetitive and aren't as good as the classic version it self. There is some awesome drum programming in those songs.
It isn't for a casual NIN listener or even a casual music fan. Trent really is a genius, as so is the guy from Coil. The cd is all over the place.
My favorite tracks are 1 and 3. For the price that amazon is selling it for, you should check it out. It is a lot of strange noises and layers that makes for a weird listen every time.
But it always puts a smile on my face.
Overall I enjoyed this release, and especially enjoyed seeing Coil get into the mix, but I really can not recommend this to casual Nine Inch Nails listeners. I found myself checking the CD player several times to make sure the CD wasn't skipping, yes, some of the tracks actually sound like that. This release is more for people into their experimental side, or more into industrial noise. This is not a bad release by any means, but I still definitely prefer Broken. These remixes cross the lines between being genuinely interesting reinterpretations, and downright annoying tracks of noise.
